Fasi Uddin

(2015 Mech Graduate. Second Position in the department)

Starting with the name of Almighty ALLAH, the most merciful and the most beneficent – all praise and glory to Him. I, Muhammad Fasi ud din, have just been graduated from NED University of Engineering and Technology, holding a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. When I stepped into the university in 2012, I feared that things were not going to work for me out there. I needed some sort of financial assistance and I was really very fortunate to grab an attractive scholarship package provided to me by “NED Mech 80-81 Alumni”, now this scholarship is named currently as NED scholars. The selection criteria were very good, they conducted an interview to sort your need and merit out.

If I just use the word scholarship for this program, it would really be an injustice. As said in their slogan “cultivating talent through level fields”, this team does exactly what it is intended for. NED scholars do not only provide you financial assistance to help me with my academic expenses, but it also provided an opportunity to start my professional career develop with them. They inducted me into their sophisticated system designed to bring the best out of me through a series of webinars, workshops, e-certifications, internships, industrial visits and lot more. So they don’t leave you for the sake of your luck, but they provide you mentoring at every point whatever and whenever you need any.

I am really grateful to Dr. Sohail and his team that they chose me to be a part of this family and provided me every help in my most crucial times. With their immense help and support, I have completed my studies with ease and good grades. I am currently serving one of the international leaders in consumer goods- P&G Pakistan.

This is my story, and I really think that it couldn’t have been possible without the blessings of Almighty ALLAH, without the love, prayers, and support of my parents and of course without the support, help and mentoring from NED scholars.

Finally, I would like to thank Dr. Sohail and his team for making me what I really am. I would like to send my prayers to the members of this team who are no longer with us, may their souls rest in peace and may Almighty ALLAH provide them every shelter and ease like they used to provide when they were amongst us (Aameen).

“Starting with the name of Allah – the most beneficent and the most merciful – today I feel very blessed & lucky to had received the NED Scholars’ scholarship and most importantly the most cooperative teacher and mentor, Dr. Muhammad Sohail Ahmed. I can recall each and every conversation with him. I remember the ways he guided us, not only me, in such a supportive way as only our parents do throughout our lives, may Allah bless him and my parents.

For me, the best part of this Scholarship is the fact that it not only supported me financially in a crucial period of my life, but also helped me to excel my soft skills with their dedicated webinar series, training sessions, and internship support while quality mentoring is always a plus point of it. By the grace of Allah, it gave me the courage to challenge my fear up to the highest limit and was able to get selected for internships at international and famous national organizations including Schlumberger, Engro (SECMC), PARCO, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills & Energy Ltd, Orient Energy Systems. In all these places I am remembered as a hardworking engineer with sound engineering knowledge.

Alhamdulillah, at last, because of my parents’ prayers especially my dearest papa (Late) and with the cooperation of NED Scholars, I have successfully completed my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering as the “first engineer” in my family. InshaAllah, soon I will be hired in a reputed organization in Pakistan.

My sincere advice to my juniors will be to always believe in Allah. Have faith that if Allah has taken away something precious from their lives, He will provide them a better substitute in future. Do not get jealous of others’ lifestyle, these are Allah’s ways to test us. Always focus on your targets and try to help others in any way you can. And last but not the least respect your parents, serve them now and serve them well. Don’t wait for a future time to make them happy, but start serving them from now onward before it is too late. Life is short and once it is gone, regret is the only option. Inshah Allah, it will definitely make you stronger and assist in your personal and professional life while teaching you to work under stressful conditions. I said this because I experienced it practically during my study. A few days ago I lost my father (papa) due to severe illness, he never saw me as a degreed “engineer”.

Although I wish to write in detail, in short, NED Scholars’ generosity and support have inspired me to provide relief others and to help to my community. May Allah bestow me the strength to do good deeds and follow the path NED Scholars Alumni. I also hope to mentor students in achieving their objectives just as Dr Sohail has supported me. Thank you so much for sharing your intellectual guidance, worthy knowledge and your valuable time with me, which I could have hardly found anywhere else! Thank you.

First of all, I want to thank ALMIGHTY ALLAH , my parents and NED SCHOLARS especially Dr. Sohail Ahmed, because of their support I am finally a Mechanical Engineer. I consider myself lucky and honored to be a part of NED SCHOLAR (Alumni 80-81).

NED scholars not only provide financial aid but had also engaged me in other activities. They provided career counseling to their scholars. During my 1st and 3rd of mechanical engineering, NED SCHOLARS helped me to acquire internships at BYCO petroleum Pakistan Limited (BPPL) which gave me an outstanding exposure to industry and I was able to have a better understand mechanical engineering.

NED SCHOLARS also provided us mentors and arranged various webinar, workshops for our professional growth. Once again, I would like to thank Dr. Sohail and his team, from the bottom of my heart, for making me what I really want to be!

Waseya Asfereen

(2014 Mech Graduate)

By the Grace of Almighty Allah, I got the chance to avail this scholarship named NED 80-81 Alumni (Currently NED Scholars) in my most needed time.

Their selection criteria are excellent and they select the deserving candidate after a proper interview procedure. This scholarship doesn’t only give you the financial assistance but also the best mentorship throughout your university life and afterward.

I cannot imagine my Bachelors’ university life, this much smooth without their help. The way they help their scholars is the best part of this scholarship. The communication with their scholars, asking them about their Educational problems, needs, and everything. They then try to sort it out in best possible manner; a sign of truly dedicated people.

On the other hand, they also helped us in getting internships. I had my one at Byco Petroleum Pakistan and it was one of the best experience and exposure to the Engineering world. I also got great help in my Final year project by them.

I am wholeheartedly thankful to all the NED 80 81 Alumni and especially to the most supporting, helpful and a great teacher Dr. Sohail Ahmed for his precious time and dedication throughout and I hope it continues throughout my life. I really admire these people and pray that Insha Allah one day  I’ll also be contributing in this great deed. Today because of their support and assistance I am working as a Design Engineer in an HVAC firm..

Danish Iqbal Mech-2012

Education is the right for everyone and I, Danish Iqbal, proved it by graduating from in one of the most reputable Engineering University of Pakistan, NED UET, in Mechanical Engineering with 3.7 CGPA. in the year 2012. As the financial background of my family is not good so I tried my best to get a scholarship to continue my education and by the grace of Almighty ALLAH, I succeed. I was awarded “NED 80-81 Mech Alumni” from 2009 to 2012. This was a privately funded scholarship for needy students to pursue their graduation at NED UET.

NED 80-81 Mech Alumni is one of the best scholarships in the world. It not only helped me out financially but also provided me with a complete and wonderful guidance throughout my studies. I have been in touch with my mentors who, even after graduation, guide me towards the right path of professional success.

By awarding me this scholarship, they have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspects of my professional career. Their generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community.  I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as they have helped me

Currently, I am working as Trainee Engineer at KEL (former KESC). I have obtained certificates in AutoCAD and Supply Chain Management. I love to play Badminton and have won second place in Intra Department Championship.

Ehsan ur Rehman – Mech 2012

It is an honor for me to express my thoughts and share my views about the scholarship I received through the NED MECH 80-81 Alumni group. I belong to a middle-class family. I lost my father in a plane accident when I was just fifteen years old. It became very difficult for me to continue my studies without a proper income. Thankfully, I managed to complete my intermediate education with the help of my uncle.

When I was admitted to NED I was awarded an NED MECH 80-81 Alumni scholarship. The stipend that I earned from this helped me a lot throughout my whole university life. Undergraduate studies are almost impossible without a computer and internet. I did not have a high-performance computer, but I managed to buy a new one with the help of the NED 80-81 scholarship. During my university life, a time came when my mother was suffering from an eye disease. An operation was the only solution that was left. I was in need of money to get the operation done. At this tough time, I received the annual check from NED MECH 80-81. That check made my life easier, so I was able to carry out the operation in the quickest time. Although this money was for educational purposes, I used it for a noble cause. In spite of all these setbacks, I completed many courses like AUTOCAD, ANSYS etc. offered in the university using the amount that I had received from this scholarship. Besides the financial help, I also received professional development help, as well. Through the help of NED MECH 80-81 Alumni, I was able to do internships from SIMCON, Safitech Consultancy, and BYCO Petroleum Pakistan. I am more than just a scholarship holder, but rather a family member of NED MECH 80-81 Alumni group.

The last thing that I feel necessary to mention is the selection criteria for students by the NED MECH 80-81 Alumni group. Many scholarships were given to students that were not really needy. However, the NED MECH 80-81 Alumni interviewers selected their students purely on merit. I feel very honored and lucky and feel to be a family member of NED MECH 80-81 Alumni group. I wish that I could become like Dr. Sohail, Dr. Ahmed Safi, and all the members of NED MECH 80-81 Alumni group.
